Life in the Slow Lane

Two weeks in to the new year. Things are slowing done thank goodness and the lines that God has allowed me to drawn in my life are in place. Now I just need his help coloring in the lines. That is what is important. As I struggle with the colors I want to use but I don't have. As I try to stay in the lines. And so it goes.

That is about it. I will now leave with this paraphrase.

"God is doing a lot of great things in my life. I am just trying to stay out of his way" Mark Nelson

Getting in shape

I went to the gym this week and I saw an opportunity to evaluate my weight loss goal. To sum it up, 280lbs and 28.8% body fat. In other words if I had no fat, I would weigh 200lbs. 15% fat would bet 235lbs. 20% would be 250lbs. So I need to loose 30lbs. to be healthy. Throw into the mix that I want to do an off road triathalon in September. This would involve a 1.5 mile kayak, 11.5 mile mountain bike, and a 6 mile trail run. I am really worried about the trail run. I have never run more than 2.5 miles in my life. But hey I have got 9 months to train. I hope that it is enough.

In other news I am getting emerging church hunger pains again. I just picked up "Emerging Churches" today and every time I get a vision of what could be. On one hand I get excited because I believe that this is hunger that God has given me for some reason and I know what kind of impact doing "church" this way can do and I believe that this is more like the church in the New Testament. On the other hand I get more discourged because I want to do something about it but no doors have opened for me. Doors have opened for me in the past, but I was too naive to do something about it. And I still pay the price with regret. Where I am at I feel alone with this idea. I live in the SBC ghetto, and I have no way to connect with others in this area locally. Oh well.

Here is an interesting article about the cable ala carte controversy. There was always the saying with censorship that allowing others to make public what we don't like insures that we have the freedom to make public what we want. Well this article demonstrates how be careful for what you ask for because you just might get it.

And here is my website of the week. He has my vote.
