Following Jesus in business

I have been thinking lately about "What would Jesus do in industry". In that I am sure that if Jesus was in my shoes, he would serve his boss who in turn serves the board. But also he would also do what is best for all the people that is affected by his decision. I don't think he would do something just to make a dollar.

Now this all sounds easy, but in real life it is not. As someone who looks at new technology in the ethanol business and also somebody who has to deal with people in that could get fired, though not by me, I find a lot of these question come up. For example, I might find a new technology that might bet better for the environment and help support people locally who aren't above the middle class. Now this technology might be more expensive than one that is not as good for the environment and put more money in the rich.

And this isn't fully my decision. But I do sway the decision. And as I serve my employer, I have to be fiscally responsible. It is almost I am serving two masters but than again Jesus says I am to serve my employer as well.

So that is my moral quandry and dilemma. Also, while I don't have a family yet, I am faced with the theoretical dilemma of balancing family and work.

In other news I have been blessed by the visitation of my friends Jake and Joy. Had a good two days though interrupted briefly by work. I also came to the realization that next time I have friends over, I need to consider Mammoth Cave as a place to take them. And that an inflatable bed is not as good as a real mattress and boxspring.
